Blog analysis My Targets
In order to improve and develop my blog I will....
- keep on track when it comes to blogging. This means making sure my blogs are complete and up to date as well as posting on time.
- Attempt to make my blog stand out by blogging creatively for example when doing a blog with many pictures such as evidence of filming, perhaps I can present it in the form of a slide show.
- I will also aim to blog in as much detail as possible.
Update on sequence storyline
Due to filming complications we have changed up our storyline for the sequence now the two girls that are friends will be me and Hava.
Hava dies and me being her best friend for years is grieving about it until one day i find an old photo in my room that make me reminisce....... a girl at my school snatches the only photo i had , i burn the picture so i can let her go. But there was one last thing i wanted to do so i visit her grave but will i join her? And how did her best friend die?
This then means that our genre has changed to mystery/thriller.
Costume has slightly changed as our target audience is people of our age we have just worn clothes that we normally wear e.g jeans jumpers, trainers, tops and jackets.
Locations have also changed as we are now shooting in regents canal and a graveyard in mile end both are safe to film in.
We have changed our props and are now using a lighter and a old photograph, and the lighter is also safe to use.

- I need to update what is going on with the sequence as we have changed quite a few things
- Use more pictures and visual things to make my blog look more interesting to the viewers.

Update
Due to our group heavily depending on other actors , we have decided that it would be best to cut back the amount of actors that we have therefore meaning that the majority of people that are acting are from the group. This means that we needed to slightly change our story idea and have done so by having our story line about two girls who had previously been best friends but after summer break they stopped talking and one of the girls tried to fit in with the popular group meaning that she left her 'best friend' behind.

FEEDBACK FROM THE PITCH
Additional comments by teacher include:
- Update story board and have a finalised version of it
- Need to include more evidence - such as photos- of the location and props
- Have a longer shot by shot list that is visible on the blog
Evaluation:
For our pitch we received 8 marks out of 10 , however in order to improve our work our group needs to do an animated story board in order to create a clear image of what is going to occur in our opening scene. Furthermore we need to make sure that when we start filming we have enough evidence us such as filming photos and location photo. Lastly in order to gain a good mark , we need to make sure that we have layered sound to help contribute to what is happening in the background.

Editing Decisions THE PITCH
Key Camera and editing decisions:
The key camera decisions will be the range of shots between close ups, very long shots, long shots and many more. At the very beginning of the tittle sequence the first shot is going to be a big close up so the audience can straight away see who the main character is which is the girl and get a sense of her emotions. We will gradually switch from shot to shot through the transitions we have decided to which are the checkerboard, flip and dissolver as we know this catches the audiences attention quickly and its more fun to look at.
Our Tittles during the sequence will be placed in the background of the scenes so we don't take off any attention from the actors and what is actually going on. It will be on the bottom left of the screen in a Lucida calligraphy as this isn't the typical standard font its a bit more creative and girly like our Target Audience, girls between the ages 15-21. These tittles will consist of firstly Actors involved, the directors camera woman, Name of songs used and lastly location of where we filmed.

Title credits
Title credits:
- In our title sequence our title credits will be in a bold typography with an italic font to highlight the teen-drama genre.
- We intend to have a discrete title sequence, although we are including elements of stylised when shooting the scenes including crime (having us enhance those scenes for a more dramatic effect).
- Some examples of the font that may be used in our title sequence:
39.Production Schedule

the production schedule above and below is and updated version but it is not the final version.

Representation:
Representation:
Introduction of characters:- We will include five high school friends with one of the friends who has changed drastically causing commotion and tension between the friends - this will be enhancing the genre of teen-drama.
- We will be following the stereotypical representation since we are filming the group of friends as all girls ages 15-21. Although, when shooting the sub-genre we have included of crime it will change to a sense of being non-stereotypical since we are including a different aspect into the title sequence.
- The main social group we will be including are female teens (15 -21).

Sound design blog task 30 THE PITCH
What diegetic and non diegetic sounds will be used?
In the sequence the diegetic sounds that will be used are sounds of music that girls of that age would listen to so pop chart songs also using this will attract girls from that age group to come watch the film as that is what their into. However we will cut the music off after we show pictures of the girls all happy before the girl left to tension building music that lets the audience know something bad is about to happen.
The non diegetic sounds will be little chatter from the school scenes to make that natural school scene so it is more believable to the audience so they know they are school kids, also when they are out you will be able to hear people walking in the background buses and cars going by etc.
Tittle sequences that have influenced my sound design?
This film sequence has influenced my sound design as they used a well known UK urban grime artists as they know their audience will be London teenage kids to attract them. I will use the same idea and use pop music that teenage girls in the ages of 15-21 would listen to and enjoy.
Rough soundscape for sequence:

Movie sound template
The sound track above is a possible option for the movie opening and this was made with garage band. This would be good to add as it is simple yet creates tension allowing the audience to know that something isn't quite right.

The pitch blog task 31 THE FILM
Our film is called YEARS LATER.
Brief outline of the film: In this film, there are four girls that have been friends for their whole lives ever since they were little they were really close but when they got to secondary school one of the girls moved away to another country not telling them a reason why she never came back for 2 yrs. When she finally came back the girls were thrilled to have their best friend back but there was something just not right about her, she changed. Eventually the girls notices as she acts really strange towards them, it is obvious that something must've happened to her whilst she was away but what and how long will she be able to carry on like this?
Brief outline of the opening tittle sequence: In the opening sequence to this film we are going to start of with pictures of the girls of when they were little with slow emotional music to show how they were friends for a really long time. Then we will cut to parts of the girl leaving her friends to go away to her country then shots of how their friends lives are when she's gone then back to the girl when she's back and quick snippets of blood in her house and gory things like that then a close up of her friends ending with a black screen.

37.mise-en-scene
Mise-en-scene
As a group we have come to conclusion of the Mise-en-scene that will be part of our opening.
Location:
We have decided on three places we would like to film; our school (City an Islington). We will be using a classroom were four friends will be having a conversation. Also we will have scene in the canteen were students at the school will be socialising. we are going to ask permission for a friends house to be used . However, if we cannot find a house we will go to a park a find a hidden bench or area were one of the characters hides all her weapons etc.
Props:

The props that will be used in this opening will include fake stuffed animals to represent one of the characters fetish for killing animals. Alongside this we will be using fake blood to make the animals seem less like toys and more realistic. Fake knives and blades will also be included to make the one of our scenes seem more dramatic. We plan to get these props online on eBay or amazon. As well as this we will have pictures that we will each take on our phones and possibly get them online. Each person in the group will take part in the buying of the props needed.Costumes:
When it comes to costumes the clothing for the four friends in the classroom will be standard but girly at the same time. This allows their characters to stand out and the audience get a sense of their personalities. Wheres the one character who is slightly psychotic is going to be dressed in dull dark colours in a black hoody and black jeans. This is to make her character clear and obvious to the audience. The costumes will be provided by the people who play their own roles.
Lighting:
The lighting used will be natural daylight but when we edit the final piece we will dim the lighting to make the atmosphere thrilling and promote our genre of crime.

Brotherly Love
The distributor for the film brotherly love is "freestyle releasing".
This film was distributed using a variety of different marketing tools which include the advertisements on billboards, posters and in magazines as well as social media advertisements on websites etc...
When it comes to social media the film has its own Instagram and Facebook page. Also at the time on filming they had a Snapchat were the cast posted (this was deleted a few weeks after the film was complete). Moreover the film has its own website were people could pre-order tickets. It also features the trailer, a countdown until the release of the movie and also a reaction from the public once the movie was released.
The movie was mainly realised in cinemas around America but in other countries only a few/certain cinemas featured the movie.
Brotherly Love can be watched on DVD and Blue ray discs. It can also be watch online at websites such Putlocker services like Netflix.
the distributor is likely to distribute my film as they distribution a variety of different genres on of which include teenage drama and crime.

- Is this distributor likely to distribute your film ?: Personally I believe that this distributor is quite likely to distribute my film as they are commonly known for featuring in teen dramas with action or crime ( examples of this are The Twilight series, Divergent , Step up and Now you see me , which are all teen films with a twist) therefore , as my film is going to be a Teen Drama with a Crime twist i feel as if it would be perfectly suited. DOPE
The distributor for the film dope is open road films.
The marketing tools used to distribute this film is through social media and television by showing them in the trailers. As well as this they were included in posters on busses and also placed them somewhere on the billboards .

The role of promoting the film when it came to social media was through many different formats of advertisement. One of which includes social media. i believe they have their own Instagram page and also have a Facebook page as well as a twitter page where they posed clips from the film and posted posters to enable the film to become well known.
The release of this film was very wide. it was release in many cinemas worldwide. the film its self was a big movie which means it release was major ad included premieres with the cast attending.
This film has a variety of different formats were people can access and watch the film. The film is available online at different websites for example 123 films or Putlocker. It is also on DVD and Blue ray discs. As well as this you can watch this film on services such as Netflix.
I feel like the distributor is likely to distribute my film as it only distributes films of the same genre as mine for example the movie set it off. Therefore it can be understood that they would distributor my film as it fits in with their criteria and the types of films they produce.
Researching into existing distribution companies:
First film: Mean girls
- The marketing tools used to distribute the film - social media, radio stations, magazines, posters, billboards etc.
- The role of social media in promoting the film - they included their own website for the audience to read through and talk about the film, they included their own facebook page for their target audience to socialise with others that like the film, they also inlcluded other social media webpages; instagram and twitter for their attracted target audience.
- The type of release it had a large release since it attracted a wide range of audiences, especially teenagers since they an relate to the film, released in a wide range of cinemas world wide.
- The different formats the film is available in was mainly in DVD's since it was released in 2004.
- This distributor is likely to distribute our film due to it having a similar target audience and similar storyline yet we have included a sub-genre of crime for an added twist which may also include another type of audience to be engaged in our film.
Second film: The others
- The marketing tool used to distribute the film TheOthers - social media, radio stations, magazines, posters, billboards, etc.

- The type of release it had - blue-ray and DVD's since it was released in 2001 there was a limited amount of areas to release the film.
- We may include synergous links such as a thriller type of soundtrack when the crime area is shown.
- The distributors (WarnerBro's and DimensionFilms) are likely to distribute our film due to our film having crime as a sub-genre having it relate to their film and may also attract a similar audience to their film.
Research for Post 32
Brotherhood:
Who distributes it: Noel Clark distributes this film and is also owned by him.
The role of social media: They did have their own Instagram account that was followed by big celebrities that got their film out there quicker.
The type of release: It had quite a large release because it was in all cinemas across the uk as this would've mostly been their audience they were aiming at.
Different formants the film is available in: It was in DVD and Blu-ray and online.
The box office and DVD sales to date: It was 2nd on the official box office.

Synergous links: In this film because their audience was going to be mostly young London teenagers they had a variety of UK grime rappers as they knew they were famous and that will get them more views. E.g Krept and Konan, Stormzy, AJ Tracey.
Is this distributor likely to distribute your film:
I think that this distributor will distribute our film because it is in the same genre and attracts the same type of audience that they wanted to attract also, because their film done so well on getting a running total of $2.64m What is stopping our film from doing that to.

Favourite title sequence:
I have chosen this title sequence as my favourite title sequence due to its opening, having me on the edge of my seat from the very start. The genre and storyline were clearly thought through by the group and had various different shot types at each individual point to express the seriousness and tension of the drama piece. The group used the use of sound to enable the audience to feel in an emotional manner by increasing the pace of music in the middle to add some tension also it keeps the audience engaged in what is happening throughout the whole title sequence.

29.Analyse the use of sound (previous student work)
My favourite title sequence...
I really liked the sound for this opening as I found it to be very intriguing straight away due to the definition of the sound throughout. the genre of this title sequence was made vey obvious from the start, allowing me to get an idea of what the full film may have been. The sound enables the events place to be worth watching. This is because although it is sad and there is a deep story to be followed, the sound emphases that feeling of emotion as I'm watching and leads to me to continue watching eager to see what is going to happen next. The sound increases in the middle of the opening to encourage a turn in events which also makes the situation taking place a lot clearer as I'm watching.
My least favourite title sequence...
I didn't really like the sound for this title sequence mainly because I didn't think it made any sense. At the beginning the sound of the heartbeat seemed really random to me as the events taking place in the back was of a boy sitting in a room on his computer. As a result of this the genre was very hard to identify. then later on in the sequence the sound became very up beat which also left me muddled as not much was happening in the back. The sequence itself is good but it proves that it is very important when choosing the right sound as the overall sequence can become uninteresting and complicated to understand.
Analyse the use of sound in a previous students work
5. Arantxa, Sapphire, Jake, Joseph from 283goswellg on
Favourite Video:
This was one of my favourite sequences in the way sound was used because the sound instantly set the scene to be a calming homely atmosphere also because a teenager was acting it out it gave the audience an idea that it was a teenage drama with a bit of romance. The type of music played a huge role because the music was slow piano sounds that is typically played in romantic teenage films. However, sound was used to its advantage towards the end when the plot was changing and the girl was going after the boy with a knife as it changed to upbeat tension building music that lets the audience know something bad is going to happen.7. Kezia, Sophie, Piotr from 283goswellg on Vimeo.
Vimeo.
Least Favourite Video:
This sequence according to sound was my least favourite because i think through the whole sequence they only had one sound playing which bores the audience really quickly as they obviously know it is a horror film but there was no climax or a point that they were building up to, to grip the audience. Furthermore, eventually i think that the sound has points that are meant to have a something big happen like something jumps out but there is nothing this will detach the audience and make them switch off from the rest of the sequence as nothing exiting is happening to correspond with the exiting music.
