Researching into existing distribution companies:

First film: Mean girls

  • Distributor for MeanGirls - Paramount pictures 
  • The marketing tools used to distribute the film - social media, radio stations, magazines, posters, billboards etc. 
  • The role of social media in promoting the film - they included their own website for the audience to read through and talk about the film, they included their own facebook page for their target audience to socialise with others that like the film, they also inlcluded other social media webpages; instagram and twitter for their attracted target audience. 
  • The type of release it had a large release since it attracted a wide range of audiences, especially teenagers since they an relate to the film, released in a wide range of cinemas world wide. 
  • The different formats the film is available in was mainly in DVD's since it was released in 2004. 
  • This distributor is likely to distribute our film due to it having a similar target audience and similar storyline yet we have included a sub-genre of crime for an added twist which may also include another type of audience to be engaged in our film. 

Second film: The others

  • The distributors for TheOthers - Warnerbros's and DimensionfFims. 
  • The marketing tool used to distribute the film TheOthers - social media, radio stations, magazines, posters, billboards, etc. 
  • The role of social media in promoting the film - the distributors included websites for their target audience to find out more information needed about the film. Their own facebook page for their target audience to socialise on, twitter and instagram. 
  • The type of release it had - blue-ray and DVD's since it was released in 2001 there was a limited amount of areas to release the film. 
  • We may include synergous links such as a thriller type of soundtrack when the crime area is shown. 
  • The distributors (WarnerBro's and DimensionFilms) are likely to distribute our film due to our film having crime as a sub-genre having it relate to their film and may also attract a similar audience to their film.
